The Foundation Names NEW PRESIDENT

At the July meeting of the Foundation Board of Directors, Maria O’Brien, previous Vice President, was installed as the new President of the organization. Maria has strong connections in Spain and with the Hispanic Community. We expect she will bring a new dynamic energy to the future progress of the P.R.E. Horse.

Maria takes the reins from Cameron English who has served since the retirement of Richard Nickerson. Cameron’s business is in a fast growth mode and in the short term will be entirely focused on that endeavor. However he will stay involved, finding a role in clinics, shows and other avenues of promotion. The Foundation gives a hearty Thanks to Cameron for all he has done to advance the organization.

NEW TRIPS! NEW TRIPS! NEW TRIPS!
The Foundation has two new exciting travel ventures for Spanish Horse Lovers.
Costa Rica - March 2019
This new Trip is a March 2019 visit to fabulous Costa Rica. Travelers will attend the Costa Rica P.R.E. Show and make an in depth visit to the five most important P.R.E. Breeders in Costa Rica. The tour by bus will take in the vibrant Cloud Forest skirting the Arenal Volcano and National Park. Visit the waterfalls and, if you so desire, you can bask in the mineral laden hot springs. Please email info@prehorse.org to find out more or reserve your place.
Spain - December 2018 and May 2019
This Trip traces on horseback the historic and beautiful route of the Pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Staying at traditional stops (in both luxurious inns and quaint bodegas) you will ride “El Camino de Santiago", a path that became the most renowned of medieval pilgrimages.

The way is graced with beautiful scenery and Romanesque Architecture. Transportation by coach (auto) will also be provided when desired by the riders.  The December trip will be available if filled. We anticipate the May trip to fill quickly also. More details including enticingly affordable pricing will be released soon. Interested parties should call the Foundation soon at 505-294-0800 or email
info@prehorse.org

STATE REPRESENTATIVE PROGRAM – Reboot

The Foundation is reinstating the STATE/REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE Program with the goals of:
  • Strengthening FPSH presence and effectiveness on the ground in local areas;
  • Promoting excellence in horse health, training and management;
  • And insuring a cohesive and congenial P.R.E. Community.

This program will be a fun and rewarding one for our Member Owners and Breeders. When you get involved you won’t be re-inventing the wheel; representing the Foundation is simply doing something that is easy and already of interest to you.

You already go to organized trail rides. Just take along some flyers and have them at your trailer or stall. You already go to shows. See if you can set up a table with Foundation Materials. You already have parties with horse buddies; find some horse topics and speakers to round them out. Farm owners, you already have a sales program, expand it with P.R.E. Educational Activities.

The intent is that the activities of the Representatives will increase outreach to local P.R.E./Andalusian Owners wherever they can, and others to inform them about the P.R.E. Horse and Foundation Activities. We can help people understand the importance of Revision and Inscription and encourage participation in Shows, Clinics and Awards Programs. Representatives can help spread the word about our fabulous breed to increase ownership and participation. Representatives will receive annual benefits and recognition.

A huge Thank You to out first Representatives (in photos at left) are Miriam Gonzales for Virginia, Holly Casman for New Mexico and Jacqueline Kennard for North Florida.

We look forward to more soon! Volunteer HERE!

Linda de Wilde

On Sunday July 15th, in 90 degree heat, Centella and Linda de Wilde rode down the centerline on her Fuego filly Centella de Fuego "Spark of the Fire", for their first Recognized Dressage Show together at the Champagne Classic.

It was the culmination of a dream that began in 2010 when Linda and a group of Dressage friends attended the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky and witnessed the Musical Freestyle performance of
Juan Manuel Muñoz Diaz riding Fuego XII for the Spanish Team. Inspired Linda began negotiations for a breeding to her P.R.E. Mare Columbia II (Kianto x Rafaga) and a filly was born in 2012. According to the ANCCE studbook, Centella de Fuego is the only black sired by Fuego.

Despite some spooky moments after seeing a row of colored triangular flags used as a barrier just outside of the arena, the pair achieved a score of 61.4%.

Congratulations! And many more wonderful years together.
