El Caballo Español/The Spanish Horse: Evolution & It’s Morphology
This book analyzes the reasons for which the characters that distinguish the Spanish purebred were chosen. He also explains the morphological changes of the breed since its creation & the causes of this evolution. He questions the reasons that had been upheld in the past, centered on the belief that the morphology of the Spanish horse was linked to the Andalusian geographical environment. He presents documentary evidence which clearly indicates that the Spanish horse is not the result of natural evolution, but rather the product of the greatest genetic project of history, the one undertaken in 1567 at the orders of King Philip II in the city of Cordova for the purpose of creating a breed of horses which would have specific pre-established characteristics.
